Bok Tower Gardens - The Perfect Family Day Trip from Tampa or Disney Stop-Off

A beautiful oasis in the middle of Florida, situated on one of Florida’s highest points at 298 feet above sea level. Created by Edward William Bok and his wife, Mary, Bok Tower was built here in 1925. The tower hosts a 60-bell carillon and concerts are played daily. The sound of bells floating over the gardens is ethereal and brings a distinct joy to your exploration.
The on-site cafe is fantastic with both indoor and outdoor seating making it suitable for year-round visits. The sandwiches we ordered were delicious and fresh and they have a good children’s menu too.
The children’s garden is a true delight to visit. There is plenty for all ages of children to explore. There are giant acorns, a giant fox’s den and many other climbing frames to exhaust even the most energetic young child. A fairy garden, water play, giant bird’s nest and outdoor musical instruments are perfect for encouraging the imagination. There is plenty of shade too, invaluable in the Florida sunshine.
Take a leisurely stroll around Bok Tower itself and take in the magnitude of this historic site. Stay to hear a recital from the singing tower and feed the koi fish in the moat around the tower.
There’s something for everyone here and when planning your visit be sure to time it to hear the bells or attend one of their many events. Bok Tower is perfect either as a stop off on your way from Tampa to Disney World or you can spend the whole day here as a day trip from Tampa.
